MacSpice 3.1 is a 64-bit Universal Application for Macs with Intel processors running OS X 10.6.8 and later. This, and versions for earlier versions of Mac OS, are available from the Downloads section of the MacSpice website.
the first time it is opened, macspice may be blocked by the default settings of gatekeeper (os x 10.7 and later) because it has not been 'signed'. to override this warning control-click (or right-click) the macspice application icon and select 'open' from the pop-up menu. reply 'open' to the next dialog and macspice should launch; you only need to do this the first time you open macspice. for more information, refer to <>.
macspice is not a sandboxed application. this means that m2wx85.cnmands and scripts execute with 'user privileges' and can modify and overwrite files in much the same way a terminal session can. m2wx85.cnmands should be used with a similar degree of care to that needed when using terminal.app.
always ensure your mac is protected by time machine backups. if further protection is needed, create a new 'macspice' user account .
Read the Copyright and Licensing幸运飞艇超稳计划群 information and confirm that the terms are acceptable to you before proceeding to install MacSpice. In particular, note that MacSpice is released with no warranty whatsoever and anyone who uses it does so at their own risk.
place a copy of the 'macspice' application in the '/applications' folder.
launch the macspice application.
at startup, the current directory '.' is set to '~/documents/macspice/', which is created if it doesn't exist. if this can't be created, or used, for some reason '.' defaults to '~/documents/'.
if folders/files aren't found they are created in the current user domain.
I recommend you install BBedit, the excellent editor from Bare Bones Software and then use it as the MacSpice editor. After a 30-day trial period BBedit switches to a 'free' mode that has all the features needed to use it with MacSpice.
For further information and updates refer to the MacSpice website.
Multiuser Systems and Enterprise Deployment
MacSpice keeps its support folders 'lib', 'examples', etc.幸运飞艇超稳计划群 folders in 'Library/Application Support/MacSpice/' and will search for this folder in the following order at startup:
- User Domain, i.e. ~/Library/Application Support/MacSpice/
- Local Domain, i.e. /Library/Application Support/MacSpice/
- Network Domain, i.e. /Network/Library/Application Support/MacSpice/
幸运飞艇超稳计划群 if none of these exist, macspice creates ~/library/macspice/. to persuade macspice to update the contents of its library folder, rename or delete the existing one.
a user may override the local/network domain defaults by opening terminal.app and using the commands:
- cd /Applications/MacSpice.app/Contents/Resources/
- ditto MacSpice/ ~/Library/Application\ Support/MacSpice/
幸运飞艇超稳计划群 administrators of multiuser systems may wish to move the macspice application support folder to the local or network domain in order to define institutional defaults.
幸运飞艇超稳计划群 administrators of mass-deployments may wish to set suignorechecks in uk.co.cdhw.macspice.plist, which will prevent unauthorised users wasting time attempting to update the application.
幸运飞艇超稳计划群 the macspice application self-update uses the 'appcast' mechanism. the validity of files downloaded is verified by the use of dsa signatures.
The MacSpice scripting language allows inter-process communication via AppleScript and the bash(1) shell. Hence, all MacSpice netlists and source files, particularly those from insecure sources such as the internet, should be inspected prior to use in order to ensure that these mechanisms are not abused or invoked accidentally.
preserve any user-created files and then move the following to the trash:
- The MacSpice application '/Applications/MacSpice.app'
- The 'MacSpice' folder that MacSpice originally created in '~/Library/Application Support/'
- The preferences file '~/Library/Preferences/uk.co.cdhw.MacSpice.plist'
